IADC Therapy for Grief

What is it?

Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) therapy is a specialized form of grief therapy intended to reduce sadness and foster a sense of peace with your loved one who has passed. IADC uses a modified protocol of traditional EMDR therapy, typically involving two 90-minute sessions held on consecutive days.

As the intensity of sadness is greatly reduced, it is common for clients to enter a meditative-like state where they encounter a reconnected sense of presence with their loved one.

Am I a good fit for IADC?

  • Timing matters when it comes to IADC. Most people find the most success when they are at least 12 months into their journey. If you’re in that 6 to 12-month window, we can explore together whether you're ready. If your loss happened within the past 6 months, please know that it’s okay to “just be” where you are right now. This therapy works best once the initial shock has subsided, so we suggest waiting a little longer to reach out for IADC while you lean on other forms of support in the meantime.

  • IADC is designed for those ready for a definitive shift rather than a weekly marathon. Shorter sessions often feel like just scratching the surface of a deep wound; IADC provides the extended time needed to reach the core of the pain and transform it. This focused approach allows you to move through the work more intentionally, replacing the trauma of loss with a lasting, peaceful connection.

  • IADC therapy begins with a free 20 minute consult call to ensure you are a good fit for the treatment. The fee is $185 per hour for two 90 minute sessions ($555 total). A superbill may be provided for possible out-of-network insurance reimbursement depending on your insurance provider and benefits. A reduced rate may be available for clients with financial need, please reach out to discuss options.

  • The primary focus of IADC is to provide deep, lasting relief from the pain of loss. While a significant majority of clients experience an after-death communication (ADC), this outcome cannot be guaranteed. Regardless of whether an ADC occurs, the vast majority of clients report a successful treatment and a substantial reduction in their grief and sadness.
